Celebrating Meister Eckhart and Thomas of Aquinas: 28 January

Today is the Feast of Thomas of Aquinas, yet it is also the day, Meister Eckhart died in 1328, as Walter Senner more recently found out:

“For a long time the date of Eckhart’s death had been forgotten. Daniel Sudermann even thought he would have been executed at Heidelberg in 1300. Accidentally, I found out that Meister Eckhart died on 28 January 1328, presumably at Avignon. On this day his commemoration was held in German Dominican priories of the brothers and sisters still at the end of the 17th century.”
